Major depression disorder
Major Depression disorder is also known as clinical depression. It is normally characterised by low moods like, low esteem, lack of interest in normal activities that are enjoyable. When a person is affected by major depression disorder he would be unable to concentrate on his or her family, work or school, sleeping and eating habits. This in turn affects the overall health of the person. Sometimes they are involved with seasonal change also. Such a depression is called seasonal depression.
A person with major depression disorder has the greater risk of committing suicide. It is found that about 3.4% of the people in the United States commit suicide. It is found that the affected persons are in the age between 30 and 40 years and also the majority of them are women. Though antidepressant medicines may be used for extreme cases, therapies like the psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy have proved to be very effective. According to studies, major depression disorder has been found to last on an average for four months. Some cases it may take 6-12 months.
